For 15 years, my first dog, Oliver, was my best friend. I turned to him when I was sad, scared or needed a hug. Even at that young age, I understood the connections that people have with their pets. So, it was no surprise that at eight years old I knew that I wanted to be a veterinarian.
I am so fortunate to have spent the past 25 years doing a job that I love. I obviously wanted to be a veterinarian because I am passionate about animals, and spending my life taking care of them has been a dream come true. However, it is the connection with folks that share my love of these animals that has made this a truly remarkable journey.
Throughout my life, my pets have always been a part of the family. When I was young, they taught me responsibility, compassion, and were a part of every childhood memory. As I grew older, they have always been loving companions and friends. So, when I was given the opportunity to attend Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, it was a dream come true.
